5 FINANCIAL CLARITY LESSONS EVERY MANCHESTER SMALL BUSINESS NEEDS TO KNOW

Over my 15 years as a coach, I have interviewed many business owners. And one thing that comes up over and over again, is a lack of clarity.

I will ask them questions like, “How many new clients do you want this month?”

and the answer comes back, “As many as I can get.” Or: “How much money do you want to make this month?” “As much as possible.”

If you’re running your business like this, you’re shooting randomly. This will give you half-hearted results and will add more time and stress to your journey.

Once you are crystal clear on what you want for your business, ease and flow start kicking in, and you are able to cut a ton of time and energy off your path to your goals.

Today I am going to share five key lessons with you that will prepare you for the clarity your business deserves.

1. YOUR BUSINESS SUCCESS IS 80% MINDSET AND 20% STRATEGY.

Many small business owners do not realise this, but strategy only contributes to 20% of your success in business.

You can have the best strategy in the world, but if your mindset isn’t on board with the process, it’ll be difficult for you to succeed, or at the very least, you will end up with mediocre results.

Think of the amount of money you are making in your business right now. Work out 80% of that and add it on to your monthly figure.

This is the amount you could be making right now, if you were to master your mindset.

What would you do with that extra money?

Give yourself a well-earned treat each month?

Do something special with the family, or a loved one? Or simply lighten the monthly load?

If you are feeling this right now, having the optimum mindset will stop you from leaving those thousands on the table each month. The thousands that are meant for YOU.

A clear mindset equals clarity in your business. It cuts off uncertainty and confusion, and helps you focus, reducing time-wasting.

It will help you produce better and more effective strategies that could even cut down your goals to half the time… leaving you the freedom to do the things you enjoy.

Think about it – would you rather be chained to the computer every weekend or going off for that well-deserved break?

Successful business owners know that time is the only commodity that you can’t get back.

Many of them go that one step further and hire a mindset coach who will help them pinpoint any blocks they have, and shift them fast so they can continue their journey with even more ease and flow.

2. BEING COMES FIRST.

When someone starts a business, they usually think, “When I have x amount of money, I will start investing in my business and then be a six figure owner,” for example.

However, this is not the way it works. The BEING is the thing that has to come first.

If you are aspiring to have a six figure business, you have to start thinking and acting like that six figure owner.

If you’re thinking, “How can I do that?” start looking on social media at people who have already achieved your ultimate goal.

Look at how they dress, their body language, how they speak, what their ideas are, and incorporate the things that resonate with you.

Go to a café in Manchester where ambitious business owners and entrepreneurs spend their time, and treat yourself to a cup of coffee. Soak up the atmosphere.

Listen to the conversations and really take everything in. Then start making this a weekly habit.

Doing this will start having an impact on your subconscious mind – the part of your mind that starts opening you up to new, higher levels.

Being part of that atmosphere will start opening you up to new ideas, opportunities and people that will get you to your goals much quicker than if you were to just go through the motions.

Many Manchester business owners spend years focusing on what they need to DO next, without paying enough attention to who they need to BECOME first.

3. YOUR MONEY LIMIT WILL ONLY REACH WHAT YOU ALLOW IT TO.

Have you ever said to yourself, “I’ll double my income this month,” and ended up with the same amount as you usually did?

The reason for that is because you have a subconscious money limit.

When you go over that limit, your subconscious finds ways to get rid of the money.

So you might bring in that extra cash, but during the month, the car might break down, the washing machine might encounter a problem, or you may have a big bill that you didn’t expect.

One of the functions of the subconscious mind is to keep you safe, and because you have “gone over a safe amount of money,” it will find ways to get rid of the excess.

Once you become aware of this pattern, you can take steps to start changing it.

Start telling yourself that it’s normal to bring in those higher sums of money that you want.

Your mind will resist at first, which is perfectly normal, but let these feelings go and persevere with the new ones.

As time goes on you will start to stretch that limit and be able to break that cycle. When that new limit feels too small, you can continue to repeat the process.

Many Manchester business owners find themselves working harder each year without seeing the financial growth they expected. Often, the issue isn’t effort.

It’s the subconscious limit that sits quietly in the background and determines what feels safe and achievable.

Another exercise is to think of your monthly or yearly figure, and then double it.

Could you imagine earning that double figure in your business right now? It might be too much of a jump for you.

But having considered that, what do you think would be a suitable figure right now?

It would be more than the original, as once the mind is stretched, it cannot go back to its original position.

If this idea of a money limit resonates with you, you may find the Magnetic Money Method particularly helpful in identifying and transforming the beliefs that may be affecting your financial results.

4. WHAT BEHAVIOURS OR HABITS AROUND MONEY ARE NOT SERVING YOU?

Most of your behaviours or habits around money have come from your childhood, and most of us are still carrying some that are not serving us. Were you ever told things like, “People like us don’t get rich,” “Money doesn’t grow on trees,” or even worse, “Money is the root of all evil.”

Having had things like this repeated to you over the years, it is no wonder that some of your behaviour patterns around money are definitely not serving you.

This can translate in a number of different ways.

You know that there’s a course or programme, or someone who provides a service, that if you invested in it, could move your business forward much faster, but you hesitate to take advantage of that opportunity.

Or, you may always be looking for the cheapest options when it comes to investing in your business, even though they may not be the most suitable ones for you.

Many Manchester business owners find themselves stuck in this cycle without realising it.

They work hard, stay busy, and continue doing what feels safe, yet struggle to create the financial growth they truly want.

Being aware of these patterns is the first step. Take some time out, be totally honest with yourself, and write down how you currently act and think towards money.

Do you hold onto it, fearful about losing it all, or wondering where the next lot will come from? Are you casual with your spending, knowing that there’s always more on its way?

Do you spend money too fast, because you have an underlying feeling that having too much money is unsafe?

Take your time over it as this could be one of the most valuable exercises you ever do.

Then write at the side of each one a “yes” or “no” answer in response to the question, “Does this behaviour serve me in my business?”

You will then know what you need to let go of in order to move forward.

5. YOUR INTUITION IS YOUR BEST FRIEND ON YOUR MONEY JOURNEY.

What gives top business people the edge? Their intuition.

They are never afraid to go with their gut instinct, and will confidently carry out actions that may seem illogical at the time, but once they are completed make perfect sense.

They know that their intuition never makes a mistake, and reap the rewards for following it.

Do you listen to your intuition, or ignore it? Do you follow what that little voice is telling you to do in those quiet moments?

Are you aware of those body signals that tell you when something is off, and do you acknowledge them?

Not following your intuition is an expensive mistake.

Imagine you are the CEO of a big company and you are interviewing a prospective candidate to join your team. You look at his CV, and everything looks perfect.

The interview is going well, then all of a sudden, you feel a twinge in your stomach. Unexplained.

You ignore it and carry on with your questioning. It comes back again but once more you ignore it. Then you shake hands and welcome him to the company.

Three weeks later, he has upset all the staff, lost you your best client and wasted thousands of pounds of your training budget.

You think back to the day of the interview, and ask yourself, “Why didn’t I listen to what my body was telling me?”

Many successful Manchester business owners will tell you that some of their best decisions came from trusting their instincts when something felt right, and avoiding situations when something felt off.

If you feel that you need to start listening to your intuition more, the first step is to give it room to connect with you.

Start taking 10 minutes a day to have quiet times. Get used to hearing your thoughts, and sit with them. It may be uncomfortable at first, but persevere.

You may not get any intuitive nudges during this process, but later on, maybe when you’re driving, you might get a feeling to call a certain person, or go to a certain place.

When this happens, it’s important to act on it straight away. Do not ignore it.

As time goes on, these will become more and more frequent, and as you continue to follow them, they will help you gain a clearer path forward.
